This doll is a symbol of the Theater. Sometimes when you visit old theaters, you can feel like the spirits of long ago plays are flying near your shoulders. I think these spirits are good spirits from old plays, staying forever in the theater's space. This doll is hoping that she would bring the feelings of these long remembered theater experiences. This doll would happily grace a wall near people who enjoy the theater as much as she does.
She is about 30 in. tall. The tunic is made from stretchable velvet. The central part is made with 2 layers, channelled with stuffing. The sleeves are hand pleated. The tunic was painted with acrylic and textile colors. The skirt is made from transparent silk. Through the skirt you can see the impressive gold silk trousers. The hat is embroidered with golden and velvet hand wound embellishments as are sewn on the silk skirt, then the hat was painted. The masks hanging on the skirt are sculpted from air drying clay, then painted with tempera. She is gorgeous from her hat to her velvet shoes which are also embellished with little gold rosettes.
